OMWBE Certification – How it Can Benefit Your Business
With Featured Speaker Cathy V. Canorro

Federal and State certification programs are designed to help your business grow and access contracting opportunities. If you are a minority, woman, or person of social and economic disadvantage who owns and controls a small business, you’ll be interested in OMWBE’s certification programs.

You will learn:

  • How certification can help your business access state and federal contracting/procurement opportunities
  • Eligibility requirements for certification with the state Minority & Women's Business Enterprise Program (M/WBE) and federal Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Program (DBE)
  • The steps involved in applying for certification as a M/WBE and DBE
  • Available financial assistance through the Linked Deposit Program

Cathy V. Canorro has been employed with the State of Washington Office of Minority and Women's Business Enterprises (OMWBE) since 1990. She currently manages OMWBE’s Agency Support and Supplier Diversity Division. This division provides technical assistance and reporting to 120 state agencies and educational institutions in the implementation of their supplier diversity plans to ensure qualified certified minority and women business enterprises have maximum practicable access to state contracting and procurement opportunities. She also serves as the Agency’s Small Business Liaison, an inter-agency committee devoted to providing Washington’s citizens with more direct access to the state’s licensing, regulatory and business
development programs and services. She has previously managed OMWBE’s Certification and Business Development Divisions.

Canorro has been an active member of the Washington State Bar Association since 1975. She was previously an active member of the Alaska Bar Association.
