Downtown Spokane - Why It Continues to Work!

SPOKANE, Washington (August 25, 2010) – Inland Northwest Chapter of National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO-NW) to host Entrepreneurial Program Series with featured speaker Marty Dickinson, "Downtown Spokane - Why It Continues to Work!," September 9, 2010, at The Lincoln Center in Spokane, WA.

Through a public-private partnership, Downtown Spokane has managed to revitalize itself and bring over $3 billion in redevelopment and new development. Sustaining these efforts is critical, and the Downtown Spokane Partnership provides a unique tool and methodology to make this happen! Learn how it’s working and what is in store for Spokane in the next five years.

The University District showcases an area growing with and benefiting from the achievements of downtown, with a Master Plan that complements the Downtown Plan and accommodates the needs of an increasingly vibrant city. The Partnership’s business truly is helping local business, as it collaborates and creates energy for growth--not only in downtown, but ultimately the region. Presentation will provide an overview of this relationship and how the northwest’s businesses play a part in its success.

Featured speaker, Marty Dickinson, President of  Downtown Spokane Partnership,  earned a B.A. in Business and Marketing, Communications from WSU. She has served the Downtown Spokane Partnership (DSP) since May 2005. She chaired Spokane’s Affordable Housing Taskforce and launched the community process to update the Downtown Plan. Dickinson has worked in the field of corporate management, economic development, marketing, and telecommunications for more than a dozen years. Areas of expertise include senior management, organizational leadership, communications, marketing, and downtown revitalization.

For 15 years, members of the Inland Northwest Chapter of NAWBO have worked to propel women entrepreneurs into economic, social and political spheres of power worldwide. The Entrepreneurial Program Series is designed to help women in business meet the challenges of starting, running and maintaining a business in today’s marketplace. "When I look at the women who are a part of NAWBO, I am inspired by their strength and comforted by the knowledge that we are all here for each other," says NAWBO-NW President Carrie Magruder. The Entrepreneurial Series is presented during NAWBO-NW monthly chapter meetings.

NAWBO-NW meeting is open to all women business owners. Join us September 9, 2010 at The Lincoln Center in Spokane, WA. Networking begins at 5:00 pm, dinner and presentation to follow at 6:00 pm.
