January, 2010

Greetings and welcome to 2010!

Your Inland Northwest chapter of NAWBO continues to work to offer you many opportunities to be a better, more effective business owner.

By now you know that our theme for the year is Power Your Dream. And to that end, we are bringing you programs and events to help you grow your business (How Social Media Marketing Can Win Customers, February 2010), keep you up to date (Don’t Blink Or You’ll Be Obsolete, May 2010) and connect you with other women business owners and influential community members (Uncorked! Our April wine tasting fundraiser, and our new monthly President’s Coffee hour ) to name a few.

To support you, our valued members, several members of your chapter’s NAWBO Board participated in the first NAWBO Western Regional Leadership Summit in Los Angeles at the end of January. The one day meeting included hot-off-the-press information from NAWBO National in the form of a new three-year strategic plan. (Members can log-in to read it). This exciting plan validates the efforts your Board has already been working on: our own Inland Northwest three year plan where Membership and Hospitality, Corporate and Economic Development, Programs, Communications, Finance, and Administration are creating ways to improve and increase the value of your membership. We will be sharing more about our new three year plan in the months ahead.

And we want your input. We will be arranging an informal get together to come and talk with your Board. We are here to listen and we want to help empower you to Power Your Dream. Share your ideas, thoughts and suggestions on how we can, together, make our collective NAWBO dream (our Vision and Mission) an on-going reality:

NAWBO's Vision

The National Association of Women Business Owners propels women entrepreneurs into economic, social, and political spheres of power worldwide.

Mission Statement

As an organization with a "customer first" philosophy, we:

    • Strengthen the wealth creating capacity of our members and promote economic development
    • Create innovative and effective changes in the business culture
    • Build strategic alliances, coalitions, and affiliations
    • Transform public policy and influence opinion makers

Stay tuned! And if you can’t make it, you can always email or phone any of your Board members.

In the meantime, join us at our monthly dinner meeting on the second Thursday of the month, our upcoming partner workshops with BizStreet (Greater Spokane Incorporated), and share a glass of wine and some womanly wisdom at our Uncorked! April wine tasting fundraiser event at Caterina Winery.

NAWBO has lots of opportunities to enrich you as a woman business owner. We look forward to connecting and collaborating with you in the upcoming days, weeks and months to help you Power Your Dream!

Warm aloha, Alison Zecha
2009-2010 President, Inland Northwest chapter NAWBO
