Your Public Library: It's Google on Steroids
SPOKANE, Washington (May 18, 2010) – Inland Northwest Chapter of National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO-NW) to host Entrepreneurial Program Series with featured speaker Mark Pond, "Your Public Library: It's Google on Steroids," June 10, 2010, at the Doubletree Hotel in Spokane, WA.
If we truly live in the Information Age, then there should be few commodities more valuable than information. In the case of authoritative business information – demographics, industry trends, market research, sales leads, etc. – the price for access to such information can easily reach tens of thousands of dollars per year.
The brilliance of the public library is that it makes available to everyone the same resources that would otherwise be within the reach of only wealthy individuals and large corporations. Learn how to take advantage of the public library’s offerings and give your business a distinct advantage over the competition.
The featured speaker is Mark Pond, Business Reference Librarian, Spokane Public Library. Pond graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Anthropology, followed up with a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science. After working for the Seattle Public Library and the University of Washington Libraries from 1998 through 2006, Pond then joined the Spokane Public Library as the Business Reference Librarian. In addition to his library work, Pond is a member of the Spokane City Human Services Advisory Board, an active member in Greater Spokane, Inc., and a board member of the Faith and Environment Network.
For nearly 15 years, members of the Inland Northwest Chapter of NAWBO have worked to propel women entrepreneurs into economic, social and political spheres of power worldwide. "I firmly believe in encouraging and empowering women to reap the benefits of business ownership," says Ann Jurcevich, owner of Jurcevich Construction and Treasurer of NAWBO-NW. The Entrepreneurial Program Series is designed to help women in business meet the challenges of starting, running and maintaining a business in today’s marketplace, and the Series is presented during NAWBO-NW monthly chapter meetings.
NAWBO-NW meeting is open to all women business owners. Join us June 10, 2010 at the Doubletree Hotel in Spokane, WA. Networking begins at 5:30 pm, dinner and presentation to follow at 6:00 pm. Cost is $35 with RSVP prior to noon June 8; $40 after noon June 8. Walk-ins welcome. For more information or to register, visit www.NawboNW.org or call Karin Kasinger at 509-481-3357.
